On July 4, 2010 MarkeyJester made an Sonic Retroannouncement saying he will no longer work on the hack, and released two unfinished versions of the hack (the current build and a slightly older one including the Combiring from Chaotix in two player cooperative mode). He gave Malevolence permission to continue the hack.
